Who We Are
Meals from the Heartland is an Iowa-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering people to save starving children. Through the power of volunteers, we package nutritious, nonperishable, and culturally adaptable meals that are distributed to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in Iowa, across the United States, and around the world.
Our meals provide nourishment during natural disasters, support communities with limited access to affordable food, and reach areas impacted by poverty, conflict, and violence. Every meal packaged is made possible by people who choose to give their time to help others
What We Do
The Annual Hunger Fight is Meals from the Heartland's largest volunteer event of the year. Our goal is to package 1.75 million meals, and we need over 3,000 volunteers to make it happen!
Whether you join us with your family, friends, coworkers, faith community, school, civic organization, or as an individual, you'll play a direct role in providing meals to people facing hunger. No experience is necessary, and every volunteer makes a difference.
Our packaging stations are designed to be welcoming and adaptable for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to serve in a meaningful way.
Together, we can turn a few hours of volunteering into 1.75 million meals and countless moments of hope.
